Marketing Director Job Details
My Client is a UK-based privately-owned niche exhibition and conference organiser and information provider specialising in the IT and Communications market. Currently all its main operations are in the UK, but either joint ventures or licencing arrangements have been established in Africa and Europe to expand the brands into international markets.
This company's philosophy is based on constant innovation and a thorough understanding of the dynamics of the markets in which it operates - essential to survive in the restless fast-moving ICT sector. The company brings years of experience to the table, having been involved in the organisation of ICT events in one guise or the other for over 20 years.
Job Description
My Cleint is currently recruiting for a Marketing Director for its portfolio of UK and international technology events and online media.
This is a key management role and the successful candidate will join the board. We are looking to add a bright, exciting and creative leader to contribute to an already successful team.
They will be managing a team of 8 people within the marketing, content and social media functions.
The candidate will have to demonstrate sound financial management, inspiring personnel management and clear strategic planning. This role will encompass a broad range of activities from core audience recruitment to the development of our social media and online assets. It is envisaged that our social media assets will contribute 15% of company turnover within 3 years.
In addition to the UK event and media assets, the company has two overseas partnerships, one in Africa (South Africa and Nigeria) and one in Europe (Sweden, Spain, Belgium and Germany). The Marketing Director will be responsible for promotion of all our activities in these territories.
In terms of experience the candidate will have worked for at least 8 years in a marketing department, of which 5 years will have been in management.
Key Skills - Management
Management:- The ability to manage a varied team of 6-10 people with responsibility for their motivation, day-to-day management, remuneration and all other human resources issues.
Customer Relationships within the IT Market:- they are a customer-oriented company. A key role will be to work with the Commercial Director to understand the needs of our key customers. Accordingly, the ideal candidate should have an understanding of ICT Markets how they operate, now and in the past. They will possess the ability to network with leaders in technology marketing and key consultancies in order to provide up-to-date market intelligence and to continually assess their market position and develop new products and ideas.
Strategic Planning - Input into the writing and implementation of their Strategic Plan, to cover existing event product development and relevancy, social media and online growth and profitability, and the production of unique and inspiring live and online content.
Business Creation - To help create and launch new products for the company, in-line with the Strategic Plan.
Financial Management - to produce all annual budgets and tactical event marketing plans for the board and ensure these are implemented efficiently and within budget.
Key Skills - Marketing
Audience Acquisition - This is priority for any event company and the candidate will have a proven track record for delivering audiences to exhibitions and conferences, ideally in the IT market. This will require an exceptional understanding of all aspects of direct, marketing, e-marketing, social media and data management.
Messaging - Speaking to an audience in their language is essential in the ICT markets if we are to retain our credibility and status. The successful candidate will instigate a process that distils complex concepts into relevant, creative and pertinent marketing messages, both for buyer and vendor audiences.
Online Publishing - The client has a range on online products. These aggregate and redistribute content from our freelance writers and our customers. Our online products effectively connect our vendors with buyers (our visitor databases) 365 days a year and act as the engine for our social media marketing strategy. The candidate will be able to understand web technology, online advertising methods and costing, content creation and distribution, both text and video.
Social Media - with the failing of tradition routes to market, the cleint has a strong social media strategy within the markets in which we operate. The Marketing Director will have relevant knowledge of social business and be able to manage our social media and content team, increasing our audience reach through our social media strategy.
Supplier Management - To negotiate and manage the clients range of suppliers to ensure they work together well, within budget
Salary and Remuneration
The successful candidate will receive an offer dependant on his/her skills and experience. The package, inclusive of bonus will be in the region of £100k. The candidate will also become part of the company's Profit Share Scheme (all employees) and the company's Share Option Scheme (board members)
